The Ogre/Chuck Challenge, Day 8

Hey, Readerland.  The Ogre is back again.  Still rolling strong with the Ogre/Chuck Challenge.

Took my final exam today and I'm pretty sure I aced it.  It was a fun class, but I have to say that I'm glad I'm out of school until January.

But you don't want to hear about that!  You want to read!  And write!  Hopefully.  So, in case you've forgotten, today's challenge is:

16. Find a random picture on Flickr. Then write about it. (Click here for a random Flickr image  generator.)

Here's my picture:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/68902764@N04/6479841525/  and here goes nothing.

The flash went off, thankfully out of her eyes this time.  She blinked anyway, hoping the shoot was done.
'God, I can't wait for this to be over.' Cindy thought.  She had to study for the midterm she had tomorrow.  Josh was a nice enough guy, but he took his time setting up shots.
'Okay, let's see.  Auxin, cytokinens, gibberelins and abscisic acid.'  She turned her back and looked over her shoulder at the camera.  She began reciting plant hormones and their functions in her head as she barely noticed the flash going off.
'Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, sulfur and phosphorus.'  This time is was essential macronutrients.  Anything to keep her mind active while this boredom when on and on.
Cindy knew Josh had a thing for her, but there was no way she was going to throw away her academic life for a fling with a guy she barely knew.
"God, these boxing gloves are hot.  My hands are sweating," she said.
"Almost done." Josh said.  "Then we get you out of them."
'Good lord.  Trying being a little subtle.' she thought.  It wasn't like she couldn't see him staring at her ridiculous shorts when he said that.  'The A horizon is the topsoil and is the area of the highest chemical and biological activity."
Just because she was a model, people immediately thought she was stupid.  Cindy used that to fuel herself.  She was pursuing a degree in Botany, specifically Ethnobotany, because she wanted to help people.  By learning how indiginous people used plants, maybe she could help people get better.  The thing was that she enjoyed getting her hands dirty as opposed to sitting in a lab somewhere doing repetitive analyses.  She'd probably end up doing that anyway, but for a time, she'd get to be out talking to people.  She had been studying Spanish as well.  She hoped that she could get to South America and learn from the peoples who knew the old ways.
"All done." Josh said.  "Time to get you untied."  He reached out and untied one of her boxing gloves and then the other.  "So, Cindy."
"No, Josh.  You've asked before and I'm still saying no." Cindy said, tossing the boxing gloves on the floor.  She went to her bag and pulled on a large sweatshirt over her sports bra.
"You don't even know what I was going to ask." Josh said.
"You were going to ask me out to dinner or back to your place to watch a movie or a drink or something.  I'm not interested." Cindy said tiredly.  "I have a test tomorrow and I need to get back to studying.  Good night, Josh."
"You could make a lot of money doing this." Josh yelled as she walked away.  "Good money and you're just walking away."
"Not everything is about money, Josh." Cindy yelled back.  "Some of us are going to make a difference."  Cindy walked out into the night.

Okay, there you go.  Not the best thing I've written so far on this excursion, but honestly I deleted most of what I had written and rewrote it.  And this is the better stuff.  Not my best effort.

Anyway, that's the content for today.  Thanks for joining me.  If you want to participate, feel free to leave comments either telling me what you think of my content or leave content of your own in the comments box below.

But wait!  I need to draw tomorrow's exercise!  Thanks to my lovely assistant for picking:

10. Recall the most painful moment of your life -- whether that pain is physical, emotional, or
some surly combo-pack containing the two -- and write about it. Don't shirk the details. Explore
the pain.

Oofa.  That one could get ugly.  But I refuse to let the ugly stop me.  I mean, I made it this far with plenty of ugly (in my FACE) and I'm doing pretty well.

That's it for today and I will be back tomorrow!  Until then, take care and be awesome to each other.
